Neil Schreuder is the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer for the Shoprite Group and runs ShopriteX, the digital innovation unit for the Group which fuses data, tech and talent to create a Smarter Shoprite.

He is responsible for customer strategy and driving a more data-driven culture in the organisation with the aim of creating personalised experiences for the company’s 24 million consumers. 

With consumer technology at its core, his role focuses on disruptive changes affecting grocery retail and unlocking alternate sources of revenue through media and data monetisation. 

Recent innovations such as the award-winning Sixty60, which pioneered one-hour grocery delivery in South Africa, as well as the launch of the Xtra Savings rewards program in Shoprite and Checkers, have helped the company become a leader in the digital retail arena on the continent.
